KATHY MONCELSI

I am a Freelance Graphic/Web Designer and owner of Little Chisel Design in Dunellen, NJ. I have over 20 years of experience in design and have had an interest in the arts since a very young age. Taking art in high school, I realized my passion and began my creative journey. Once in college, I also recognized my love for computers and decided that Graphic Design would be a perfect way to utilize my artistic and technical skills.

After graduating from Rutgers University, I attended duCret School of Art in Plainfield, NJ for 3 years studying Graphic Design and Illustration. After duCret, I was ready to take on my first job as a designer. I found a home at Silver Line Building Products working in their marketing department. I grew from a novice designer to Design Department Manager and remained there for 7 years.

After the birth of my first child, I decided to start my own business as a freelance graphic artist and named it Little Chisel Design. I began to grow my company while managing my family's restaurant business as well as handling the marketing and advertising. My company name “Little Chisel” is derived from the family restaurant name and my mother’s maiden name, Scarpellino, which means little chisel in Italian. I started the business in honor of my mother who was a constant source of encouragement and inspiration for me throughout my life.

After 5 years at the restaurant, I decided to focus solely on freelancing. Working in the restaurant business throughout my life helped me to establish and run my own company. Constantly researching and learning the newest and most innovative techniques for graphic design, I continue to grow my freelance business and form new client relationships.

We can take on multiple projects at once and easily adapt to any changes that may arise during the job. Clear and efficient communication with clients is of utmost importance to us.
